Working with collage always also means working with the extensive and continuously expanding artist archive of collected printed matter. Physical libraries present visual histories, context, and knowledge by gathering a multitude of knowledge and information, facilitating new insights or perspectives in the process. In the age of the internet, these physical witnesses of ‘historical reality’ can provide new old perspectives and a quality of significance which can otherwise appear lost these days.

More than any other workgroup, the collage works could be perceived as approaching something like conventional beauty in terms of style as much as content. There are manifold references to classical Western and Eastern philosophy and mythology, and enjoyment of the aesthetic and conceptual quality of photography throughout the 20th century. They also tell stories of past generations’ human and natural life, spirit and history in almost archival fashion, while different sources communicate layered knowledge and metaphors of human endeavour, as well as allegorize the relationship of man to nature and himself.
