Marcus was born in 1979 in East Berlin. Following his parents’ politically-motivated GDR escape one year later (who had met studying Theology under Socialist rule), he grew up in West Berlin where he lives and works again today.

Alongside his artistic practice, Marcus works as a freelance designer and art director for his design desk image.affairs and will attempt getting his long-planned blog ‘The Berlin Review’ up and running before the end of 2017.

He has also been translating for contemporary art galleries, fairs and publishers. One of his more recent jobs was the translation of Laure Prouvost’s monograph ‘Hit Flash Back’ for Mousse Publishing.

In early 2017 Marcus was invited to join the Royal British Society of Sculptors as a member.
